See how Cam's friend was upgraded

Greetings Guys Like Romance, Too followers!

Jaxx Steele here once again to share my work with you. This time I come with Cam’s Best Friend in hand. I have always like magic induced stores, but one ever came to mind. When the idea finally came to mind for my first fantasy the story came together pretty fast, but getting it from my head to the computer was a challenge. Bottom line, my typing skills pretty much suck. I type with four fingers and my brain moves way faster than my fingers can keep up with.

The characters spoke continuously, screaming at me to get their story but I couldn’t get it out fast enough. It drove me crazy! Once finally on paper and done, it moved swiftly to the top five of my “favorite babies” list along with Papa Knows Best, Indian Blood Moon and Christmas Nick for Everyone.

This book has magic, betrayal, destined love, an awesome fight scene and hot sex…what’s not love? Seriously speaking, this was my first fantasy and it has sparks something in me. I have 2 more fantasies coming in the near future. J

A little about Cam’s Best Friend…

Cameron Gamble was a simple man who ran away from an awkward life. He found a new city to start over in, a new job and the perfect best friend, Mel, a large chocolate lab. It wasn’t long before they were inseparable and Mel had a permanent place in Cameron’s heart. One night, as Cameron recovered from a nightmare, the bright light of the moon revealed Mel’s true nature. All was well in Cameron’s world from that day forth until his ex-lover showed up with the intention of bringing him home.

Cameron flipped the switch on the washer and tried to move past Joe, but unfortunately didn't quite make it. Joe grabbed Cameron's arm with one hand, yanking him backwards against the nearby stove. With his other hand, he turned the knob swiftly and the fire came to life. Before Cameron could break free, Joe gripped his throat and forced his head down.
"Maybe I just need to show you that it's a bad thing to flirt with my friends," Joe said through gritted teeth. "Joe, stop! I wasn't flirting!" Cameron struggled, but Joe's strength was superior to his every time. "Joe, stop!"
Cameron's head moved closer and closer to the dancing flame. The heat singed his hair as it fell over the side of his head.
"Please! No! Noooo!"
* * * *
Cameron bolted to a sitting position, breathing hard. His damp hair stuck to his forehead. His lungs burned as he heaved air into them. Looking around frantically, he tried to calm himself. He fell back against his pillow and pushed loose strands from his forehead raking his fingers through his hair. Tears filled his eyes.
"God! It's been three years. Why am I still having these dreams?" he cried out, frustrated.
Cameron wiped the sweat and tears from his face. He felt movement beside him and turned. Mel whined and crept closer to him, laying his head against Cameron's chest. Cameron sniffed loudly and cupped the animal's face.
"Why can't I get rid of these dreams, boy? Joe is in jail. He can't come for me, but I'm still afraid he will. If I had you back then, you would have protected me, wouldn't you, Mel?"
The dog whimpered again brushing his nose to Cameron's. Cameron fell back against the pillow with a groan.
"You're the only friend I have here. I love you and you love me. We're going to take care of each other just like Mr Dubois said." He sighed, rubbing Mel's head. "That's how it's supposed to be, Mel. I just wish it was like that with people, too," he added with an edge of melancholy. "If you were human, it would be perfect."
Having Mel by his side comforted him. Cameron's fingers slowed in the soft fur between the dog's ears until they stopped. His breathing evened and the fear that jolted him awake eased away, allowing sleep to conquer his consciousness again.
The soft press of gentle kisses on his neck and cheek stirred him awake some time later. The caress of fingers in exploration tickled the skin on his chest and brushed over his nipples. Cameron's cock pulsed at the sensations the intimate touches created. The hand exploring his body became bolder, moving down to grip his growing erection. A surprised gasp melted into a satisfied groan as the strong hand stroked him. Cameron stretched leisurely, enjoying the tactile stimulation. It had been years since someone else had gratified him in that way and even then it hadn't felt as good. All of a sudden his eyes popped open.
Bolting to a sitting position he turned wide eyes beside him.
A strange man was in his bed! What the hell! Who the hell is this? How did he get into my room? Cameron looked around frantically.
Where was Mel? Why hadn't he barked or something?
The questions slammed into his brain too fast for his mind to form any concrete answers. The mystery man reached out and took his hand. Cameron pulled in a sharp breath, but didn't snatch his hand away.
"Relax, Cameron. Nothing has happened to your faithful companion."
Cameron swallowed loudly. "H-How do you know my name?"
The man smiled. "I know a lot about you. I'm your best friend. I am Mel."

Thanks Carson for letting me share my books with you guys. Perhaps you will like it enough to want to read the sequel, Reynaud’s Redemption.

Reynaud had everything he ever wanted with Cam and yet something nagged at him. He hoped going ‘home’ would ease his weariness, but it was apparent that things had changed during his absence. Friends had lost their places and enemies had gained power. Will the final confrontation with his past destroy everything Reynaud had in his present preventing him from having a future with Cam?

What's in a name?

Ask any author how they came up with their characters’ names and you’re likely to get one (or both) of the following answers: the characters named themselves, or the names have meaning. Now, that’s not to say all names follow those particular conventions. Lord knows I’ve certainly written guys whose names were simply the results of a random name generator—usually via Seventh Sanctum (

My twins, Lucca and Gabriele Moretti, actually fit both of those aforementioned conventions. The guys named themselves, yes, but their names suit them and their personalities—at least in regard to their particular time period.

You see, the twins were born in 1191, and they were turned in 1210 at the age of 19. Their names were rather unconventional for the time, but then, this novel was never intended to be a pure historical. Gabriele was named after the Archangel Gabriel, and he clings to his Christian upbringing with an almost infinite amount of piety. His twin, Lucca, on the other hand, is a darker soul, and it’s hinted that Lucca’s name was influenced by the Morning Star—Lucifer. Lucca is a witch. (Don’t think I’m saying that all Witches worship Lucifer, please—I am a Witch myself.) But back to Lucca… He doesn’t worship any particular deity, to be honest.

The twins’ names reflect them and their personalities. Gabriele is the light, while Lucca is the darkness. Yet, somehow, they complement each other in ways not even they quite understand yet. That will come into play in book two. ;)

Today, I’m celebrating their debut—a long-awaited debut, I might add. I’m giving away one print copy of Shadowkings 1: The Beginning. All you need to do to be in the drawing is comment below on this post. I’ll toss all names into my trusty cowboy hat and let one of the kids blind-pick a winner.

Deadline: February 1, 2014.

Good luck!

About Mychael…

Call me Katherine or Mychael--I'll answer to both. I'm a mother, partner, student, author by trade, and editor by compulsion. I've been in the publishing business for several years, namely as a writer but also as an editor on occasion. It never fails, though. I always end up editing eventually.

I'm a proud bibliophile, to which my poor sagging bookcases can attest. I read all the time, namely fantasy and romance.

When not writing or reading or editing, Maybe sleep. Or watch Spongebob. Yes. I am a self-proclaimed, thirty-something year old Spongebob Squarepants addict. Much to my partner's dismay. It's fun.

If you're curious about what I write (and who wouldn't be?!), then you can find me below:

Lucca watched the young man from the village leave quietly and discretely. Alone once more, Lucca glanced up at the sitting room window. He'd spotted his twin up there not long before the villager's arrival, but then carnal pleasure drove away all but the need to climax. Of course, Lucca hadn't even thought about the young man beneath him. With every single thrust, he'd imagined it was Gabriele.

He picked up his shirt and slipped it back on. His pants, dusty from his sword practice, bore little evidence of the tryst. Not that he cared. If someone were to charge him with sodomy, it would certainly be the least of the crimes of which he knew he was guilty.

He'd heard one of the servants muttering about it to another, his name falling into the hushed conversation. While he didn't do anything to openly prove such accusations true, Lucca knew they held a modicum of truth. He'd found out early in life that he could hear others' thoughts. He understood and communed with creatures of the wild, though not in front of anyone else. He knew more about plants and their varied uses than the village healers. Then there was his other... addiction. Seeking pleasure with men had been something he'd done for years, but the urge to inflict pain came later. Only a few men let him bind their arms or legs, and fewer still enjoyed the sensation of leather snapping against their bare skin.

Lucca shivered and forced such images away. It was growing dark, which meant dinner would be soon. As the eldest, though only by a few minutes, he was expected at the head of the table with their father. The pomp annoyed him, but he endured it for his siblings' sakes. Alessandra was the picture of nobility, even if she did possess an unnatural wild streak at times. Gabriele was simply the quiet one, ever daydreaming about fantastical worlds beyond their manor and its village. As for himself, Lucca had no inclinations toward following in his father's lordly footsteps. His calling lay elsewhere, though he had no idea where that elusive place was right now.

He sheathed his sword and went through a servant's door, stepping into the chaos of dinner preparation in the kitchen. The bustle of servants stopped the moment he shut the door behind him. The women watched him, some with a hint of lust in their eyes, others with something far more like fear. At least this time, no one marked themselves with the sign of the Cross in his presence. That had happened once, and Lucca found it highly amusing. If they knew where his name originated from, they might have outright expired on the spot.

Ignoring the servants, he continued through the kitchen and out into the hall. A flash of golden hair topping a body more slender than his own crossed from one room to another farther down. Lucca followed. He waited in the doorway, blocking his twin from leaving. Gabriele turned, only to bump right into him. Those mesmerizing eyes gazed into his and Lucca swore he glimpsed pure need within their depths.

"I'm sorry," Gabriele said. "I didn't know you were back inside already."

"If I'm late to dinner, I'm sure the rumors will only become more colorful."

Gabriele blinked, his expression one of disbelief. "Lucca!"

Lucca grinned. Gabriele looked utterly delicious when the man's moral sensibilities became offended. "I doubt any of them can accuse me of something new. I think I'm currently guilty of every crime and sin known to mankind."

Gabriele scowled, making Lucca want him even more. "You are a very wicked man."

"Perhaps." Lucca leaned closer and whispered, "but at least I know who I am, Gabriele."

"We are expected at dinner," Gabriele muttered.

Lucca stepped aside and let his brother pass. "After you, mio angelo."

The adventures of Astropilots Stern and Moreno

The Adventures of Astropilots Stern & Moreno

A new series of novellas telling the story of the pilot (Zy Stern) and co-pilot (Bon Moreno) of a freight transporter in the mid-23rd Century.
It is set during the colonization of the outer planets of the Solar System, at a time when numerous bases on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn have become well-established and commercially active. The tone is sexy and funny and our two heroes have plenty of horny adventures, as well as solving mysteries, crimes and personal dilemmas en route. The titles published so far are: Framed on Titan (political thriller), Sweet Lemon (whodunnit murder mystery) and Five Golden Rings (Christmas 'road-movie').

In the mid-23rd Century Zy Stern and Bon Moreno work as astropilots, transporting freight shipments between the various bases and colonies of the Outer Planet Region. On a routine assignment to Titan, they find themselves at the centre of a perfidious plot by a high-ranking Titanic official to gain control of interplanetary security for his own corrupt purposes. Somehow they must prove their innocence, and in doing so it will be necessary to succumb to the wanton lust that lurks in the dark corridors of Titan Base.

Almost stranded in space due to a fuel shortage, Zy and Bon are forced to dock onto the famous astroliner Sweet Lemon in order to refuel. Everything is running smoothly until Zy is inadvertently informed of the recent mysterious death of a passenger on the old spacecraft. Soon the astropilots become involved in the investigation and a race against time to identify the murderer in their midst.

Hoping to make a little extra cash on the side, Zy accepts an unofficial assignment from an old business contact of his. The instructions that he receives seem straightforward enough at the beginning, but soon one problem after another arise en route. Can the spirit of Christmas bring about a happy resolution to the pilots' misfortunes?

from “Sweet Lemon”, Chapter 1

The astroliner Sweet Lemon was made of strong stuff, and she was made to last.
Constructed and launched at the end of the 22nd Century, in times of high quality technical craftmanship, she quickly became antiquated in the next. By the time a few decades had passed, she had come to be viewed as an anachronism to the pragmatically driven 23rd Century, in which commercial numbers governed and the previously chic and expensive dreams of ambitious engineers, technical designers and architects were no longer valued.
Sweet Lemon differed from many of the contemporary models of spacecraft in that she prized comfort and style over speed and cost. Whereas a large array of smaller, streamlined vessels were now being built in the new century, Sweet Lemon was now a dear memory of older times, when people wished to travel in an atmosphere of exquisite design and stressfree pleasure; when highly positioned and well-paid citizens were happy to throw tens of thousands of astros to the solar wind to enjoy a two-week voyage from the Jovian system to the Saturnian system with all life's little luxuries covered on the way. Nowadays what the population wanted and what drove the travel market were quick cheap flights in which travelers were couped up in small spaces and had to queue for hygiene cubicles.
Fortunately though, Sweet Lemon still had her special niche in the market. It might be small and often looked precarious, but she was still able to prove herself to be financially viable. As long as she continued to hold herself in the cutthroat business and the company that chartered her PanSpa, remained afloat, Sweet Lemon would continue to meander through the Solar System.

from “Sweet Lemon”, Chapter 10

Bon turned over on the side of the bed, kicked off his already untied astroboots and wriggled his ass provocatively in the air, smirking. The captain regarded those small tight buns pushing against the material for a moment, his hands then reaching over and descending down to massage them, gripping tightly against the astrosuit and planting a single kiss there, his eyes going gooey. After a while, he grasped the top of Bon's light astrosuit bottom and pulled it down over his knees and feet, chucking it to the side. Bon moved further onto the bed, making himself comfortable, and then splayed his legs and pushed his ass upwards, making the cheeks taut and giving the captain a tantalizing view of his love-hole.
The astroliner pilot hurriedly removed his clothes and then moved over to the bed, siddled up to Bon and between the back of his legs, opening his buttocks and rubbing softly inside the crack with the side of his thumbs before gently stroking his anus with a fingertip. With his large, deep-brown hands he smoothed round and round the cheeks, then rubbing and soft-fingering round the hole, at the same time enjoying watching the glory of the flesh on those twitching twin hills of ass.
The captain gave the cheeks a sudden slap and then forced them wide open, gazing inside at the rosette. Bon gave out a surprized “oh!” as he felt the blow, looking over his shoulder again at the captain, whose eyes were completely fixed on his ass. Another slap, and Bon cried “oow, sí,” which faded into a gentle purring “mmm”. There was one more light smack and then the captain dived like a gannet, sinking his tongue straight into Bon's ass-hole and furiously shaking his head as he worked his tongue all around. By now Bon was moaning constantly, not just with the joy of the rimming, but also with the knowledge of what would be soon to come.

from “Five Golden Rings”, Chapter 5

After a relatively short, four-hour flight, Zy and Bon and their menagerie finally reached Himalia, a dull oblate-spheroid rock that resembled more a giant, smooth meteor rather than an actual moon. Compared to other more well-established and extensive bases in the Solar System, such as on Callisto or Titan, Himalia Hub was a very small and purely functional station. In fact, as its name suggested, it was little more than a quick and easy springing board for vessels heading out from Jupiter's moons towards the Saturnian system. Himalia Hub had few entry or exit restrictions and a tiny residential community that was almost purely devoted to the basic economic activity of serving the passing visitors. Apart from the basic infrastructure, Himalia Hub also housed a research station, a small military defense base separated from the central community, and a refuelling station for smaller spacecraft.
The big attraction that Himalia did however have to offer human travellers, was a first-class casino complex, one of the most popular in the Solar System. Thanks to its strategic location and lack of substantial real economy or family units, the governing body of Himalia had decided to exploit its financial and geographic position and had thus created a tax-free zone for gambling. All money won in the small and discreet casino zone could be taken from the moon in its complete form, 'no questions asked' as the vernacular goes, without a single astro being deducted by any bureaucratic or taxation excuse. In this way, it had more than doubled the size of its installations in the first decade of its existence and managed to attract a small but steady flow of visitors who now came for that sole purpose.
Nonetheless, the attraction of its gambling facilities often proved irresistible to those transitory pilots and other astroworkers, who had intended to stop off for a few hours between flights and ended up being drawn down into the glitzy world of infinite financial possibilities. It was a fever that often befell a passer-by who, deluded by moderate pay and long

Stevie is a forty-something guy in Spain. He lives with the greatest man in the galaxy who is his better half and all-round inspiration. Among other things they enjoy: travelling, stargazing, reading, history, cooking & eating, and watching new and old TV sitcoms on DVD: particular favourites include, The Big Bang Theory, The Vicar of Dibley, Aquí no hay quien viva, The Royle Family, The Golden Girls and Will & Grace. They also love views from high-up, such as those that come after staggering breathless up the Giralda or Masada: hence the big dream is one day perhaps to be able to go together on a suborbital spaceflight (and come back afterwards in one piece too).
