Halloween party on Halloween!

Hi everyone!
Jaxx Steele here to wrap up the month. I have blogged on this site many times so those who know me know how much I love Halloween. I don't need a reason to dress up but I take every opportunity to do so. This year my friends and I turn up the nerds we harbor inside us and went as a group. We are going as members of the justice league! I will be Batman, of course, and my friends are going as Superman, Green Lantern and the Flash. It's going to be awesome and super geeky.
Be sure to post how you guys spend Halloween night. I'd love to read it.
I think its awesome that Halloween is on a Friday. I get the chance to  show you guys my Halloween story that takes place at a Halloween party on Friday night!

Small town reporter Dante Tyler lives his mundane life wishing for something more. When he was sent to cover a Halloween party for his newspaper he finds that the most horrible encounter of his life turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to him.

Excerpt

“Not a bad looking sight, huh?”
Dante looked up, following the voice. A pirate stared down on him. His costume was similar to Dante’s own, but clearly not identical. The man had only one eye visible to him as a black patch covered the other. Dante could tell that this pirate was shorter than he and very slender. His feathery blond hair, cheeks rosy from drinking, and pink bow lips made him handsome in an angelic-looking way.
“Mmm hmm, not bad at all,” Dante agreed.
The pirate smiled at him. “Mind if I join you?”
“No, please, join me,” he said, making room on the chair.
“Great. I was about to get me another drink, can I grab you one, too?”
Dante thought for a moment. He was a little dizzy from the first one, but he could handle one more without being too buzzed to work on his article.
“Yeah, that would be great. I was drinking a Long Island.”
Dante watched the pirate nod and disappear through the small crowd. He returned quickly and handed him the drink.
“Thanks, umm…”
“My name is Jack. Nice to meet you.”
He shook the man’s outstretched hand. “I’m Dante.”
A soft shock traveled through his arm at their connection. He looked at their hands, then to Jack’s uncovered blue eye before he slowly pulled his grasp free.
“I like your costume,” Jack said with a laughing grin, taking the seat beside him. “I guess great minds think alike.”
“Yeah, it would seem so.”
They sipped their drinks and brought their attention back to the dance floor, focusing on the dancing men. Two male couples occupied the floor now. The first couple on the left mesmerized Dante. The way they swayed together suggested that they knew each other intimately. They touched each other openly, kissed and gazed into each other’s eyes. It was very sensual.
Dante sipped from his glass and turned his attention to the other couple, a lead male and a more subservient male. The submissive wore black shorts and nothing else. The shorts rode high on his muscular thighs as he pressed his leg into the groin of his Dom and kissed the length of his master’s chest. Topless as well, the dominant male wore sheer genie-like pants. His face expressed pleasure in the acts of his passive partner.
Dante watched the sub move from one nipple to the other, feeling his own nipples tingle in response. He cut a look at Jack and saw him smiling as he gazed at the couple also. Taking a long drink from his cup, Dante shifted in his seat trying to relieve the pressure in his pants at his growing erection. Bringing his attention back to the couple, he turned just in time to see the aggressive male spin his sub around and bent him forward.
A soft gasp left Dante’s lips as the Dom slid his hands down his sub’s back. To the beat of the music, he ground slowly against the submissive’s ass as he held onto his shoulders. The move demanded Dante’s attention, calling to his baser needs that had been asleep from lack of a lover for over two years. He envied the man being dominated by his lover. Visions of himself being bent over like that with a strong and powerful lover behind him worked its way into his mind.
Many times he had been told that he was a large and intimidating looking man. The men he often attracted expected him to top them for that very reason. Dante was an attentive lover and did what his lovers requested of him, but he found that it was difficult for those same men to do him the way he wanted to be done. Not too many men were large enough or strong enough to take him that way. It led to dysfunction in his sex life and rendered his relationships far and few between. He thought he heard Jack’s voice near his ear trying to cut through his fantasy, but it wasn’t until he felt a touch on his hand that he turned his way.
“Huh? I’m sorry, did you say something, Jack?”
“Yeah, I was asking you if you were here alone.”
Dante nodded. “Yes, I am, but I’m actually here working.”
“Working?”
Dante nodded, sipping from his glass. “Yes, I am a reporter and I’m doing a story on this party.”
The sinister gleam in Jack’s smile came and went before he responded. “Sounds like a fun job. Going to parties and writing about them, I could get paid for doing that. Maybe you should have some extra fun to add a little spice to your article.”
Dante looked away from the dance floor to Jack. His voice was soft and smooth, filled with the lust Dante was feeling at the moment. Could he have a little fling with this cute little pirate? He wasn’t really his type, but…

“Maybe I could.”

Hump day with Dreamspinner Press' : TT Kove

Halloween is nearly upon us. Now, I gotta say, I don’t quite get the Halloween tradition, but then I’m from Norway. We have it - stolen from America, obviously, but it’s nothing quite as elaborate as American’s have it. Kids go trick and treating in scary customs, but that’s about it. I’ve never once gone Halloween, as it’s quite new (I think?), because we sure didn’t have all this stuff sold around this time back when I was younger.

But even if we’d had it, I wouldn’t have wanted to be a part of it. I don’t get it, but I also don’t care for it. Scary stuff in general, really. I can read a scary book, but that’s as far as I’ll ever go. Though the kids like it. I suppose it’s fun for them, they get candy after all.

But me, I’d rather snuggle down with a good book on my Kindle, because there’s nothing better than that. And my book, which you can find the blurb for further down, is so far from scary. It’s a cosy little rump set in the Norwegian mountains - in summer, too. So far from Halloween and scary as it gets. But that’s what I like, so… :-)

Summer Fever
Basking in the long summer days, Axel hikes away from his worries through Norway’s idyllic mountain passes. He’s so at ease that he slips off his clothes and bathes in the cool lake water with no fear of being called out for his bright red hair or body full of freckles. Life is grand.

Peace and quiet doesn’t come easy for mystery writer Folke. When he stumbles across his copper-haired muse naked in a mountain oasis, plans for his future novel are long forgotten in favor of love. Nature takes a bite out of the serenity the two find, and the real world encroaches, making the happy couple wonder if they didn’t just suffer a summer fever.

About the Author
T.T. Kove is a Norwegian born and bred, and contrary to popular believes there are no polar bears wandering the streets of Norway. Though seeing a polar bears ranks high on the wishlist. TT has been writing stories for as long as she's been able to write, but she's come a long way from the one-page a chapter serials about a gang of cats and she's now fully immersed in the world of m/m romance.

TT is a fan of contemporary romances dealing with dark and heavy subjects, such as mental illnesses, but once in a while a cute and fluffy romance sneaks itself in in-between the angst-heavy books.

When not writing, TT can usually be found immersed in a book, whether a paperback one or an ebook on her faithful companion: her iPad Mini. She's also currently studying for her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Language, and hopes to get a job in publishing once she finishes it.

Totally Bound Mondays with L.M. Brown

Trick or Treat

With Halloween just around the corner, there is definitely no shortage of paranormal books being released.

What always surprises me is how popular the spooky heroes seem to be in romance novels.

Long gone are the werewolves who howl at the full moon and tear out the throats of anyone who comes across them in the dark of the night.  Instead, you’re more likely to find the werewolf shifters are loyal pack leaders or maybe the lone wolf types.  There is certainly less focus on the fangs and more on the fur these days.

Then there are the vampires, who are less likely to be seducing young women and sucking out their blood until they die, than they are to be found brooding in their remote homes, watching the world go by until that special someone finds their way into their heart.

Ghosts are no longer just the scary undead, frightening new house owners into fleeing as they torment them and drive them away.  Matchmaking, or even finding love themselves, are far more common tropes.

Even zombies are finding their way into romance novels, and not just as the monsters chasing down humans.

Somewhere along the way the monsters have become the heroes.  I don’t know about you, but I am still not entirely sure when that happened.

As I said, with Halloween around the corner, the paranormal creatures are coming out to play and when it comes to my books they are not an exception.

For me, I have three types of paranormal creature coming out this month, one ghost, and a demon and angel.

All three of them have been met before since my October releases are in fact re-releases.

Leaving my sexy spook from Touch of a Ghost to one side – he made his re-appearance earlier this month and is very busy on Halloween – I would instead like to introduce you to Alastor and Machidiel, two supernatural beings from the opposite ends of the spectrum, and two of the heroes of my Heavenly Sins trilogy.

Machidiel known as Mac is an angel charged with healing people under the guidance of archangel, Raphael. Alastor on the other hand is a demon, whose greatest talent is manipulating people with his demonic mind control ability. Enemies by their very nature, they have been sparring partners for centuries as well as fighting the undeniable attraction that sparks whenever their paths cross.

When the two of them first walked into my life I thought I was going to be writing a story about a demon and an angel fighting over the same mortal man, and that man’s struggle to choose between good and evil.  How wrong I was!

Instead I found myself writing my first ménage story as the demon, angel, and human (Tristan) realized they worked remarkably well as a threesome.  Between Heaven & Hell, book one in the trilogy is probably the best example I have of a plotted out story going in a completely different direction when I actually began writing it. Misbehaving characters doing just what they please, never mind about my plans, are one of the banes of my life.  Yet the spark between Mac and Alastor was too strong to be denied and I am very glad that I let my boys go their own way. Tristan, who gets to have both of the powerful men in his life is equally happy about the turn this story took.

I am sure readers of the paranormal romance genre will find it no surprise to discover that Alastor is a favorite in the series, and from what I have seen, has far more fans out there than Mac does.

Demons are not as popular as vampires when it comes to fiction, although their numbers are increasing, but they are one of my favorite “bad boys” of the paranormal genre.

In the Heavenly Sins trilogy there are several types of demon. Alastor is one who was recruited from Hell, which is where he was sent after he died. With no memory of his human life, Alastor has no idea what he did to earn his place in Hell.  He can take a guess, but he tries not to think about it.

As a demon, someone who has sold their soul to escape from Hell, Alastor is quite easily the baddest of my bad boys. This does not mean he is irredeemable.  And I think that is one of the reasons the monsters such as werewolves, vampires, and zombies make such fascinating heroes in romance stories. To take a character who has been seen as evil for years, if not centuries, and then turn them into heroes can be a great challenge as well as a lot of fun.

So, which are your favorite bad boys out of all the monsters surfacing this Halloween?

When an angel and a demon fall for the same mortal man there is only one solution…share him.

Halloween night at the Inferno club always draws a crowd. When Tristan spots a stunningly gorgeous man dressed as a demon across the dance floor he sets out to draw his attention, little realising he has already gained the notice of another. The demon disappears into the throng of revellers, but with the heavenly handsome Machidiel in his arms, Tristan doesn't mind.
Even though Mac warns him they can never have more than a one-night stand, Tristan longs to see the man who gave him the best sexual experience of his life again.
One year later, Tristan opens his door to find Alastor, the demon from the Inferno, who claims they have a date tonight.
Alastor may be the one man who can make Tristan forget Mac. Little does he realise Mac isn't as far from his reach as he believes. When Mac reappears he has a proposition for Tristan and Alastor, one that means breaking rules and potentially getting him stripped of his wings.
A ménage formed between an angel, a demon, and a human means the sex is hotter than hell itself, but only time will tell if the relationship they have forged together is made in Heaven or Hell.
