Getting Close to the Omega – Book 5 Cloverleah Pack Series, by Lisa Oliver (MM Paranormal (wolf shifters) erotic romance)

Book Five - Cloverleah Pack Series
[Can be read as a standalone.]
Dean Weir has finally found happiness in his position as Omega wolf of the Cloverleah pack. He has his friends, his work and his art and he has never looked for anything else. Badly abused by his ex-home pack and Alpha, Dean keeps his head down and stays out of trouble. That is, until his mate joins the pack.
Matthew Charmichael is over a hundred years old and has been a lone wolf for longer than he can remember. Joining the Cloverleah pack after he heard they were having trouble with another wolf shifter, Matthew is overjoyed to find his mate is the cute little Omega of the small pack.
But Dean's past, and the constant attacks on the pack from the mysterious Kylan, could mean that Matthew and Dean won't get their HEA after all. Can Dean overcome his past, and embrace the powers that a claimed Omega is purported to have, or will his ex-pack kill him before he and Matthew have a chance.

Dean is the omega in the Cloverleah pack.  He’s small, prefers art to fighting, and is fiercely loyal to the pack that took him in when he was found homeless in a bus shelter.  Dean never imagines he will find his true mate, like the others in the pack have done, because, well, he’s broken.  He knows it and he figures everyone around him does too.

Then along comes Matthew. A lone Alpha wolf who asked to the join the Cloverleah pack after he heard they were having trouble with another shifter, Kylan. One sniff of the delicious omega, across the dining room table no less, and Matthew knew he had finally found his mate.

Now this is a wolf shifter story – true mates and all that goes along with that idea.  But Dean knows he has problems, and he doesn’t want Matthew to have to deal with the mess he is inside. Fortunately Matthew has a lot of years and life experience behind him, not to mention the sweetest personality, and he soon breaks through Dean’s defenses.

People first started asking me for Dean’s story when he was introduced in book one of the series – The Reluctant Wolf. Even though he didn’t get much air time in that book, there was something there that readers resonated with, and so by the time I was ready to write Dean’s story, there was a lot of pressure on me to get things right. Sixteen five star reviews on Amazon so far suggests that my ideas worked.
I have always believed that strength can come in many forms, and that was the theme behind this book. Yes, Dean is small, but he is incredibly strong where it counts.  The omega powers that Dean gained when Matthew finally claimed him, were different than is seen in other shifter stories.  I wanted to find a balance between the “might is right” mentality of Alphas, and the calming peaceful elements that an omega wolf can bring to the pack.
