A walk in his shoes

Poor Jerry.
He’s having a rough time of it.
First, his boyfriend touched a weird artifact in a museum, and now John is telepathic. You’d think that would be a kind of useful thing for an FBI agent, but actually, telepathy pretty much sucks, and not in a good way. John will do anything to get rid of his ‘gift’, despite the fact that together, he and Jerry’s case clearance rate has gone through the roof.

Having a telepathic boyfriend makes for a bit of a one-sided relationship as well. John knows everything Jerry is thinking, and yet when it comes to reading John, Jerry would have more luck interpreting ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. In fact, he spends quite a bit of time trying to block his thoughts from John. Well, you know how it is… Not every thought you have is particularly predisposed to be kind. That’s why we don’t voice them out loud! But in Jerry’s case, it doesn’t matter if he keeps tabs on his tongue or not because John knows what he’s thinking.

Needless to say, when he and John got word of another strange artifact at a different museum, he leapt at John’s suggestion they go check it out in order to try and reverse the telepathy. Sure, the new box is in John’s home town. And maybe John’s former boss is trying to convince him to come back to work for him. Then there’s the matter of the high school reunion that John doesn’t want to attend, or the fact John’s mother keeps calling and John is ignoring her messages. Or that the curator of the museum is John’s ex-girlfriend. His very pretty ex-girlfriend. It will all be worth it, though, if only the new artifact can undo the telepathy. Only the curse of the boxes is still alive and kicking—and sometimes when you jump out of the frying pan, you land in the fire.

Six months after starting their hunt for a serial killer who is still at large, FBI agents Jerry Lee Parker and John Flynn are partners in every sense. But Jerry has serious doubts about their relationship and whether they would even be together if not for the way Flynn changed after touching a mysterious artifact in a museum.
Flynn hates the extraordinary power bestowed on him by the artifact and wants nothing more than to have a normal life again. Jerry fears that without the unusual connection they forged, Flynn will no longer want or need him. Chasing after a similar artifact takes them back to Flynn's old stomping grounds in Washington D.C., where his newfound abilities uncover long-buried secrets, the kind people would kill to protect. But they aren't the only ones looking for these powerful relics, and what they discover will threaten their relationship—and their lives.
